I'm into black and white photography lately. Actually, I think I have more chances of being known (wishful thinking) if I concentrate on something that I love rather than focusing on something that other people would like to see. I mean, photography is subjective and it'll remain that way forever. But, why stress myself out concentrating on what other people would like to see rather than enjoying what is pleasing to my eyes? I almost gave up on photography because of that reason. People like my stuff, but they don't see what I want them to see. Yes, it's pleasing to their eyes and they liked my stuff, but that's not what I want from them. I want them to see/feel the emotions of my pictures and let their imaginations soar high while viewing them. I want to touch people's lives through my pictures, and be an inspiration to them. Even though I have no formal training in photography, I claim that someday my work will be published.
Few months back, I joined YourShot (http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/profile/897348/), a photo community by National Geographic Magazine. It's like Flickr/Instagram but in a whole new level. They have assignments for amateur and professional photographers where they can post anything that pertains to that specific assignment, and editors from the magazine will select the best photos that they will publish online and/or on their magazine. My work haven't been published, but two of my pictures have been included in the editor's favorites and also trended worldwide. It's funny because none of my followers on FB/Instagram liked those pictures yet it captured the hearts of at least two NatGeo editors--the irony.

'Thinking Deeply'
This picture was the very first picture that trended worldwide and was included in the editor's favorite.
Marie McGrory, assistant photo editor from NatGeo, included this picture in her favorites.
I caught the attention of everyone in the restaurant where I was eating when I shouted 'Oh my Gah' loudly upon seeing the notification. That moment made a huge impact in my career as an amateur photographer.
'Life'
My entry for 'Create It' assignment.
Description: There's a lot of things we can do. Opportunities are limitless yet we settle in our own little boxes because of the fear of the unknown. We tend to follow others and setting aside who we really are. There's nothing wrong being in your comfort zone (that's your choice), but if you want to live your life to the fullest, you have to get out of there and create the life you've always dreamed of. I hope this picture will serve as an inspiration that there's more to life than in our own little boxes.
, NatGeo's photography producer, included this in her favorites. This picture also trended worldwide.
Photo Vogue Italia.
Besides NatGeo's YourShot, I also signed up for Photo Vogue Italia (http://www.vogue.it/en/photovogue/Profilo/f364bb50-5c02-420d-8b89-8e96a214643d/User), where editors examine your work before posting it on their website. If chosen, you will be notified that your work has been posted and will appear on your portfolio. If not, then better luck next time. Three of my work have already been published. Hoping for more in the future.
'Hidden'
'Father'
'Playtime'
That's all I have for now, but rest assured that I will be posting more in the future. This whole photography thing started off as a hobby, but I would like to take it seriously this time. It's funny because I can see myself in the future working as a full-time nurse and a full-time photographer.
Thanks for your time.
Aloysious (Yup, I decided to use my second name for the first time after 20ish years)
